WEEK 1
Introduction & Essential Terminology
We will use the first week to introduce students to the main steps of the modern jewelry making process, commonly used vocabulary in the jewelry industry and how to use all tools provided in your kit to ensure that you receive the best experience.
WEEK 2
Design Methods for Structure and Aesthetics
Today with the use of modern technology we have the ability to see our creations rendered in 3D before production. Thus, making modern jewelry design more eco-friendly than ever. In week two we will focus on understanding design specific elements that are essential in creating many different types of jewelry. This week we will also be introducing you to precious metal and gemstone selection techniques.
WEEK 3
Reverse Engineering and Production
At Saint James Place we have strict standards when it comes to what we produce and never compromise on quality. In the third week we will be using techniques learned from the previous two weeks to mentally breakdown and reverse engineer custom pieces of your choice. This will assist you with your own personal creations in terms of design and will also help to learn how to keep track of production cost.
WEEK 4
Making Your Own Custom
In this last week of class we will focusing on your individual custom projects. We will be taking time to breakdown any potential design issues with your projects, so that you will be ready to submit your vision clearly for the final. By this point in the class you will have not only the understanding of jewelry terminology but you will also have the skills to communicate your custom vision to your 3D designers and peers in the industry. Every student will submit a production order for there custom project with specific details that will be used by our bench jewelers to create your vision.
